*MTQ ke-57 Kota Binjai Resmi Dibuka, Wali Kota Tekankan Nilai Al-Qur’an dalam Kehidupan*

“Melalui MTQ ini, kita harapkan lahir qari dan qariah terbaik, hafiz dan hafizah unggulan, yang mampu mengharumkan nama Kota Binjai di tingkat provinsi, nasional, hingga internasional,” ucap Wali Kota Binjai Drs. H. Amir Hamzah, MAP saat membuka ajang Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) ke-57 tingkat Kota Binjai, di Masjid Al-Fatih, Senin (4/5/2026). Kegiatan ini mengusung tema “Melalui MTQ ke-57 Tingkat Kota Binjai, Kita Bangun Keharmonisan Masyarakat yang Religius dan Berakhlak Mulia Berlandaskan Al-Qur’an”, dan dijadwalkan berlangsung pada 3 hingga 7 Mei 2026, dengan diikuti sebanyak 428 peserta dari berbagai kecamatan di Kota Binjai.

Acara pembukaan diawali dengan pembacaan ayat suci Al-Qur’an oleh qariah internasional, Erin Zelia Nawawi. Selanjutnya, kegiatan dilanjutkan dengan tabligh akbar yang disampaikan oleh Prof. H. Abdul Somad Batubara, Lc., D.E.S.A., Ph.D., yang dalam tausiyahnya, ia menyampaikan apresiasi atas terselenggaranya MTQ tersebut.

“Selamat atas terselenggaranya MTQ pada hari ini. Insyaallah akan lahir putra-putri terbaik dari Binjai yang mampu mewakili daerah ini hingga ke ajang internasional,” ujar Ustaz Abdul Somad. Ia juga berpesan agar masyarakat tidak hanya membaca Al-Qur’an saat MTQ berlangsung, tetapi menjadikannya sebagai kebiasaan sehari-hari. Salah satunya dengan mendorong seluruh kantor di lingkungan Pemerintah Kota Binjai untuk membaca Al-Qur’an selama 20 menit sebelum memulai aktivitas kerja. “Insyaallah, dengan itu kita akan mendapatkan ridho dari Allah SWT,” tambahnya.

Dalam sambutannya, Wali Kota Binjai Amir Hamzah menyampaikan harapannya agar pesan-pesan yang disampaikan dalam tabligh akbar hari ini dapat memberikan pencerahan dan memperkuat keimanan masyarakat. “Atas nama Pemerintah Kota Binjai, kami mengucapkan terima kasih dan apresiasi setinggi-tingginya kepada seluruh pihak yang telah berpartisipasi aktif dalam menyukseskan penyelenggaraan MTQ ke-57 ini,” ujar Wali Kota Binjai.

Ia menegaskan bahwa MTQ bukan sekadar agenda seremonial tahunan, tetapi memiliki nilai strategis dan spiritual yang tinggi sebagai sarana evaluasi terhadap pengamalan nilai-nilai Al-Qur’an dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Wali kota juga berharap MTQ dapat menjadi sarana edukasi umat dalam mencintai dan membumikan Al-Qur’an, sekaligus meningkatkan kesadaran beragama yang lebih humanis dan terbuka.
Sementara itu, Ketua LPTQ Kota Binjai, Hasanul Jihadi, SH, S.Sos., M.Kn., dalam sambutannya menyampaikan terima kasih kepada seluruh pihak yang telah mendukung penyelenggaraan kegiatan tersebut, khususnya kepada Wali Kota Binjai.


Ia menegaskan bahwa pelaksanaan MTQ tahun ini tetap berpegang pada komitmen untuk tidak melibatkan peserta dari luar Kota Binjai. Jika ditemukan pelanggaran, peserta tersebut akan didiskualifikasi dan gelar juara yang diperoleh akan dicabut. “Kami berharap seluruh peserta dapat mengikuti MTQ ini dengan sebaik-baiknya. Semoga usaha dan latihan yang telah dijalani membuahkan hasil maksimal serta mendapat ridho Allah SWT,” ujarnya.


Usai pembukaan, kegiatan dilanjutkan dengan peninjauan stan Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) yang turut meramaikan acara.

*57th Binjai City Quran Recitation Competition Officially Opens, Mayor Emphasizes the Value of the Quran in Life*

"Through this MTQ, we hope to produce the best qari (reciters), outstanding hafiz (reciters), and hafizah (reciters), who can bring honor to Binjai City at the provincial, national, and international levels," said Binjai Mayor Drs. H. Amir Hamzah, MAP, when opening the 57th Binjai City-level Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ) at the Al-Fatih Mosque on Monday (May 4, 2026). The event, themed "Through the 57th Binjai City-Level MTQ, We Build a Harmonious and Noble Community Based on the Quran," was scheduled to take place from May 3 to 7, 2026, with 428 participants from various sub-districts in Binjai City.

The opening ceremony began with a recitation of the holy Quran by international qariah Erin Zelia Nawawi. The event continued with a major religious lecture delivered by Prof. H. Abdul Somad Batubara, Lc., D.E.S.A., Ph.D., who expressed his appreciation for the MTQ's success in his sermon.
"Congratulations on today's MTQ (Islamic Religious Competition). God willing, the best sons and daughters of Binjai will emerge who will be able to represent this region on international stages," said Ustaz Abdul Somad. He also advised the public not only to recite the Quran during the MTQ but also to make it a daily habit. One way to do this is by encouraging all offices within the Binjai City Government to recite the Quran for 20 minutes before starting work. "God willing, by doing so, we will receive the blessings of Allah SWT," he added.

In his remarks, Binjai Mayor Amir Hamzah expressed his hope that the messages conveyed in today's mass religious gathering would provide enlightenment and strengthen the community's faith. "On behalf of the Binjai City Government, we express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to all parties who have actively participated in making this 57th MTQ a success," said the Mayor.

He emphasized that the MTQ (Qualitative Religious Competition) is not merely an annual ceremonial event, but holds significant strategic and spiritual value as a means of evaluating the implementation of Quranic values ??in community life. The Mayor also hopes that the MTQ can serve as a means of educating the community on how to love and internalize the Quran, while simultaneously fostering a more humanistic and open religious awareness.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Binjai City LPTQ, Hasanul Jihadi, SH, S.Sos., M.Kn., in his remarks expressed his gratitude to all parties who supported the event, especially the Mayor of Binjai.
He emphasized that this year's MTQ will remain committed to not involving participants from outside Binjai City. Any violations found will result in disqualification, and any winning titles will be revoked. "We hope all participants will participate in this MTQ to the best of their ability. May the efforts and training they have undertaken yield maximum results and receive the blessings of Allah SWT," he said.

Following the opening ceremony, the event continued with a tour of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) booths that enlivened the event.
